Today was a relaxation day! My travel buddies were so excited for this!! The joy it brought to their faces made me joyful. Besides, I was sick and needed to rest. A day at the beach would be perfect for that.
We sprang up and found a taxi to the beach. Haggling with these taxi drivers had become my new favorite hobby.
I kid you not, all we did this day was lay on the beach. This isn't my teacup, but I really actually enjoyed just being still and relaxing. We got drinks and french fries and pad thai. The beach was beautiful. Only bad thing- The sand wasn't the like the sand from, say, Destin, Florida. It was hard and hurt your feet! Also, it would sink under the weight of your body. These two things together made it very difficul to take a stroll on the beach. But we'd taken so many strolls on the trip already that we were fine to take a stroll break for a day.
Olivia and her pale skin laid in the sun for several hours. I laid up further inland under a palm tree. From where I was I had the perfect view of Olivia getting bothered by all of passing salespeople. Apparently the local government charges a fee to sell things on the beach. Once you pay the fee they give you a nice beach vest and can have at it. Olivia got the brunt of this deal. One woman came up to her and grabbed her foot! She started to massage it and put creams on it... I was dying laughing, but so was Olivia! Eventually the woman left her... but not without payment! On the bright side, "I only had to pay for one foot! The other foot was free!"
I bought myself some sunnies from a passerby salesman. I was set!
By the end of the day I was burnt, but not badly. Brooke says I look tan now!

That's hilarious! You mean Olivia didn't get mad? I hope she didn't get burnt. Glad y'all are home a not so far away
ReplyDeleteHaha she actually didn't get mad! Eventually she realized if she just acted like she was asleep the passerby salespeople would give up and move along! She'd get away with it and look back up at us laughing!
