I've not written in years. I've skipped several trips... England, Paris, Oktoberfest in Munich, Amsterdam, Peru. I'll regret that I left those places out. I'm not sure why I didn't write... I was with friends for my trips to Europe; I told myself I didn't have time to write. Who cares that LA'sInParis.blogspot.com? When I thought about writing I couldn’t get it out of my head that it seemed braggadocious ("WE GET IT, YOU TRAVEL"). I was shy in Peru... Did I feel like I'd grown out it? How do you grow out of journaling? I didn't/don't feel comfortable speaking publicly anymore. Hmm! At least I wrote in Malawi.
BUT I received a kick in the pants this weekend when I sent my 6th grade language arts teacher a diary entry I'd written about her in 2002. She was thrilled. It was a brilliant FB Messenger exchange. Short story shorter, she told me to journal. "PLEASE do write again!"
SO HERE I AM. Just in time for a trip to Thailand. Olivia and Brooke are coming. We're meeting up with Kiana and she'll be with us for the duration of the trip (she’s been in SE Asia for 4 months now). I think our total stay is about 15 days. We will start out in Bangkok. Then we will train/bus to Ayutthaya. From there we grab a sleeper train up to Chiang Mai. After 4 nights in the North we will fly south to Koh Samui. Our last leg will be another sleeper train back to Bangkok.
If your plane left on Thursday at 12:48am, which day would you arrive at the airport? Luckily I realized yesterday that the answer to this question is Wednesday. Brooke and I were startled to realize that we had one less day to prepare than we'd previously gauged. Whoops.
Trump has TSA up in arms. By "in arms" I mean "in bed" because work isn't paying these days. So I need to arrive at the airport extra early tomorrow. Have I written about my fear of flying before? Not stoked.
Let's recap some things here though because it's been a while:
Since I've last written there's been a boom in online blogging wherein cute travelers write about their experiences in hopes that you'll pay them to advertise on their blogs or otherwise circulate their photo links on Pinterest. These writers write with a general tone of voice that they hope will resonate with millions. Look here, I EXCLUSIVELY write for my future self. I don't reread, I don't edit, and I specifically post my blog link in only ONE place: My momma's Facebook page. And that’s upon request.
With that being said, I'll sound unrefined and abstracted at times but that's because I know Leigh Anna in 15 years will know what I meant.
Ahhh, :-) how relaxing.
